"Some Guy Took Over The World"
Written by me, c. 1999
Originally untitled, this was my 9 year old self's attempt at a "novel" about someone being cryogenically frozen and waking up in a post-apocalyptic world. (In my mind it was perfectly routine for parents to agree to let their children to be cryogenically frozen for school science class.) In order to give you the full, authentic experience of this story, I have kept the many spelling mistakes intact, including the character whose name gets spelled differently three times. And I'm still wondering who "Richard" is.
One day, a young boy called Gigo was at school, in science class.
"Have all the volonteers, meaning just one brave old person, returned their permishin slips?" asked the teacher.
"Yes!" said Gigo.
"Good. Now follow me," he said, leading Gigo down a passage. They were in a underground room.
"Their are new clothes and enough food and water you to survive 1 year in here. Good Luck!"
The year went by uneventfully (or at least, uneventfully for Gigo!) When he climbed out, the whole place was in ruins. Instead of seeing a classroom, he was a big, empty space filled with rubble.
He went to look for poeple when he felt a tap on his sholder. It was a old man.
"Follow me," he grunted.
Gigo followed him and was lead to a big, white dome. It was about 5 times the size of Auckland (yes including Mannacow and all the rest). The man opened the door. The went into a warm sity with lights as a artificial sun. Gigo saw his best friend Inchol.
"What happened?" asked Gigo.
"Some guy took over the world. We had warning and built this. It was a miricle we survived. Ultra-Atomic bombs went off. This whole planets been renamed. I don't know where we live," Inchol said.
Gigo found his family, and his mum and dad.
"We were so worryed about you when the war started!" said his mum.
"But thanks to Kichal your safe!" said his dad.
"Who is Kitchal?" asked Gigo.
"Why, he's the man who brougt you here!" said his dad. "3 months after we came here, he came to look after us all. He's the leader."
"Who took over the world?" asked Gigo.
"A Dragon." said his mum bitterly.
"I wont to destroy him." said Gigo.
Suddenly there was this massive bang! followed by sirens and screams.
"Go to your houses!" came Kitchel's voice over the sirens.
Wardens locked the gates, and Gigo's family ran. The house was a miniture dome.
"That bombing was a close one.
"This is how we've been living for a year." said Richard.
I'm going to put and end to it!" said Gigos.
"You can't. Your not alowwed out." said Richard.
"Oh. Okay." said Gigo.
