Print editions now have a pre-order discount... I think

Okay, okay, I get it. I prefer print books to ebooks too. Yes, it was unfair to give a discount to people who order the ebook and not the print editions.

It's been a bit of a complicated process (I'm not even 100% sure you can pre-order print editions yet--a lot of platforms and retailers still don't seem to allow preorders) but basically I managed to convince the publisher to temporarily drop the price of the print editions, until October 31st when the book is released.

I have no idea how long this will take to filter through to retailers, or even if it will filter through.

What I do know is that a paperback edition should now cost US$13.99 if you preorder (down from US$14.99) and the hardback should now cost US$24.99 (down from US$26.99). Key word is "should". I have a lot less control over these matters than you might think.

And from that $13.99, I make a whopping 35 cents! Yes, these discounts are coming directly out of my pocket! (That's fine though--I mean, at one point I tried to convince the publisher that we should just give the book away for free, but for some reason they vetoed that suggestion.)

Well anyway, if you want a print edition and you also want to save a buck or two, then now you can. Or so I'm told. Please don't sue me if this information turns out to be wrong, I'm just the messenger here, I have no idea whether or not retailers will actually do what we ask them to.
